The Association for Opera in Canada (AOC) is proud to support opera artists through the Relief for Opera Artist Members (ROAM) Program. Designed to break down financial barriers, ROAM provides flexible membership options, ensuring artists can access critical resources, networking opportunities, and sector conversations regardless of their financial situation.
Since its launch in 2020, ROAM has been pivotal in addressing equity within the opera community. By allowing artists to pay full, partial, or no membership dues, the program empowers artists to engage in professional development and shape the future of opera. Thanks to the recent generous grant from the Metcalf Foundation’s Booster Program, ROAM continues to thrive and expand.
In 2023-24, the program supported 143 artists. For 2024-25, AOC aims to expand its reach to 170 artists, ensuring even greater representation and access across the sector.
