It is with a heavy heart that we share news of the passing of Simone Auger, the Association for Opera in Canada’s long-time translator. Ms. Auger fell ill and retired in September 2020, passing away on November 10, 2020. She was noted by our French-speaking members for her elegant turn of phrase in her work, far beyond literal or word for word translation. To read about Ms. Auger’s incredibly full life, including serving as the Executive Director of the Canadian Music Centre. Read the full obituary here.
