After completing the 8-week 2023 Beth Morrison Projects (BMP) Producing Academy, AOC member Sheree Spencer has been named as BMP’s 2024 Mellon Producing Fellow.

Sheree Spencer is thrilled to be joining the BMP team as a 2024 Mellon Foundation Producing Fellow! Finding creative balance as a producer, stage director and performing artist, Sheree has a strong passion for interdisciplinary art expressions that blur the lines between music, theatre and opera. The opportunity to relocate to NYC for this is a dream come true for Sheree as she continues to expand her reach as a producer in both Canada and the United States.
Sheree has worked with AOC member organizations across the country, on projects as diverse as:

- Musique3Femmes with UfaFabrik (Berlin) and OperaMcGill (2022): Plaything
- Tapestry Opera and Obsidian Theatre (2023): Of The Sea
- Volcano Theatre with Canadian Opera Company, Luminato, Soulpepper and TOLive (2023): Scott Joplin’s Treemonisha
- ReNaissance Opera with Vancouver Opera (2023): Sanctuary & Storm
- Canadian Opera Company and National Arts Centre (2024): Aportia Chryptych
Sheree was also part of the first Opera America Creators in Concert: Canadian and U.S Crossover in 2023 with the Musique3Femmes presentation of excerpts from Plaything. The evening supported a long-standing desire for more U.S-Canadian partnerships in the new works sphere.
